Day 12  #SOL17

On Sundays I am just going to post some conversation points, observations, and/or lessons I have learned.

#2:  I have been listening to my first BOT (cd).  If you are someone who needs to unwind when driving or does not wish to be distracted by bad drivers, the Books on Tape/CD or even light podcasts are the way to go, especially for the bad days at work.   It does make the drive a bit more enjoyable, especially on busy roadways.  I find it also makes it difficult to leave the car.

I’ve recently discovered podcasts, and love listening to them in the car!

I enjoy making things (especially woodworking), so I’ve been enjoying a podcast called “Making It” that features three makers who discuss creativity and their different processes. I also listen to “The Writer’s Almanac,” “This American Life,” “Freakonomics Radio,” and “Radio Lab.” How about you?

Love “This American Life” and “Radio Lab”. My trouble is I am still locked into listening to radio, so if I hit the right time I’m lucky, if not I have a hard time listening without the car.

  2. I listened to my first BOT this summer on the way to mom’s. It was “The Julian Chapter”. Even my 18 year old son and 9 year old daughter enjoyed the 2 hour drive without their devices!

I tried a BOT and couldn’t get through it. It was like trying to read a digital book- it didn’t leave an impact. I think I need to feel the pages in my fingers to really appreciate a book.

I agree with you. This is a book that really isn’t one I would choose to read & this was the only copy at the library. A friend selected it & I thought a BOT would work best so that I could continue reading my ‘book'(Swing Time) at home.

I love listening to books in the. I completely agree with you that it makes the drive home so much more enjoyable (even if I sometimes am that awkward person sitting in my car after I have reached my destination). Sometimes the book is just too good to stop listening to!

I like falling asleep to podcasts. I have a really short commute (a true blessing), but I love podcasts. I can listen to one for an entire week because I just start again the next where I left off the previous. It doesn’t work for books, though.
